Thursday, August 08, 2013ZOMPROM WAS A HIT, with a bunch of cleverly togged revelers who were more than ready and willing to dance (or shamble depending on the zombie) the night away. Good food, great music, amiable competition, and a King and Queen (gender non-specific, course!) and the ZOMBIE PROM shambled into Library History! (It was our first ever, but maybe (da da da dummm) not our last. . .mwahahahah! Check out the pics below see what you either enjoyed or (sadly) missed!![]() Yoga at the Library

Tuesday, May 28, 2013Wednesday, May 15, 2013TEEN FICTION, A DYNAMIC ADVENTURE
Last week at the Wyckoff Library Teen Writers Group an adventurous group of teens began a mission to write fiction, one sentence at a time. The results are as follows:
In a little town tucked between two mountains there lived a little brunette girl names Michele. Next door there lived a crusty old man named Carl. Michele didn't like Carl because of his mysteriousness, and because he smelt strongly of tobacco. He was a very shady figure who rarely went outside. Little did Michele know that Carl was actually a woman! One day, Michele wanted to see what he did in his house, but she turned away and walked down the dirt path to her friend Beatrice's house. Beatrice had a new horse. At Beatrice's house she rode and petted the horse until she heard a noise and flash of light. There, right in front of her eyes, wearing a tight, gold-lame dress and freshly braided wig stood Carl. As Michele and Beatrice run, Carl runs magestically fast and knocks them out. Michele awoke to Beatrice screaming, saying "Carl kidnapped us. He's evil." Readers are encouraged to add a line to this fiction, if you please, by commenting to this blog entry, and I will add the comments to this dynamic fiction adventure! Thursday, April 25, 2013It's HOBBIT time!
Yes, today is the day I will be showing THE HOBBIT, AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY at the library in the Shotmeyer Room.
Yes, there will be popcorn and other attending snacks. And yes, there is a strong suspicion that the Teen Librarian (me, btw) will doze off during this 2.5 hour movie (and if anyone takes a picture of that, I know where to find you!). Last time, I paid money to do that but I think the seats in the AMC theater were more comfortable (and totally doze-worthy). See you there, and if not, see you when I see you! Wednesday, April 10, 2013April's first post!
Okay, it took me long enough, but I'm back and it's April (aka Poetry Month)!
(Note the spring green font color!)
As mentioned prior, Gaming program went very well.
Hoping for greater attendance next month on the 18th of April
when we'll do it all again!
Feel free to contact me or just respond to this blog !
WRECK IT RALPH the movie was fabulous!
If you have not yet seen it,
check it out at your local library (hint, hint!).
You will laugh.
That's a promise (not a command).
April brings all new things, of course, and not just my seasonal allergies.
As much as I love the blossoms, I hate them too. Figure that one out!
But what goes on here, except sneezing and sniffling
and general stuffupedness, you may ask?
Last Thursday, four intrepid writers of the TEEN WRITERS GROUP met, shared their writings, ate snacks, and generally had a good time.
This could be you next month! Check the calendar!
This week on Thursday at 4:00-5:00 PM I will be meeting with the Teen Advisory Group (TAG). Anyone interested in their library may be a member of this growing group, so let me know of your interest, please.
All time spent in TAG counts as Community Service, too!
See you all when I see you!
Friday, March 22, 2013GAMING: PLUGGED AND UNPLUGGED WRAP-UP
We got game, or should I say we most certainly HAD game yesterday at the first ever GAMING: PLUGGED AND UNPLUGGED Library event for tweens/teens.
I had seven stalwart gamers playing everything from FICA soccer to chess (and many things in between). (I'll be posting pics soon, too!) Get ready, 'cause I'll be doing this program on a monthly basis here at the library. AND. . .next week on the 28th is MOVIES AT THE LIBRARY FOR TWEENS/TEENS and I'll be screening WRECK IT RALPH, for your viewing pleasure, replete with snacks and, of course, POPCORN! Let me know if you will be coming, please. Tuesday, February 26, 2013
You know that book you read that you just could not put down and now that it's finished you just can't forget it? Well, here's your opportunity to review said book in Wyckoff Library's own Teen Book Review blogspot and share your love of that literary gem with your peers (and all else who read this blog. . .).
Let me know what you think of this bit of newness: http://wyckoffteenbookreviews.blogspot.com/ Friday, February 22, 2013YESTERDAY EVENING. . .
. . .my intrepid TEEN ADVISORY GROUP (TAG) members (you could be one of them!) met in the Monroe Room and discussed with me what types of programs and other such nonsense they would like to see at the Library.
Let me just say. . .get ready for fun (and maybe a little crazy, too!). Next month, however, (dates unspecified at present) I will be hosting our TEEN WRITERS GROUP (yay!), a gaming evening (as yet to be determined), and other things relevant to Wyckoff teens. Hey, let me know you're out there! Drop me a line, right here! Wednesday, February 13, 2013The Gaming Tournament held last week was a major success, so look for more gaming at the library, and soon!Just a reminder of what's coming up:Tomorrow 2/14 (yes, it is Valentine's Day) I will be hosting a TEEN WRITERS GROUP from 5:30 - 7:00 in the Monroe Room. As ever, bring a piece of writing to read to the group and expect snacks (of course, you do!) Let me know you are coming, thanks!Next week I will be having a meeting of the TEEN ADVISORY GROUP. This important group of tweens/teens meets monthly to advise and assist the Teen Librarian (Me!) in all things relevant to the Wyckoff Library teen collection. If you have any interest, you are welcome to join this group. Let me know of your interest in advance, please.Wednesday, February 06, 2013
